Live matchday broadcast this week in ITALIAN: Essendon v. Carlton from the MCG on Sunday
3:10 pm EST on 3ZZZ Digital on-line.
Round 10 was the Sir Doug Nicholls Indigenous round.
The round was not only a
celebration for indigenous and
diversity in Australia, it also
proved to be very eventful: Brad Scott
dropped a bombshell by announcing he was leaving as coach of North
Melbourne effective almost immediately, suffice to say the Roos gave him a
victory to remember on his last
day.
Collingwood at the SCG beat the Swans to kick the week
off, while Richmond
and Essendon fought it out in the Dreamtime match at the “G” with
the Tigers Bachar Houli winning
the best on ground Yiooken Award. Geelong
continued their reign on top while Adelaide
continue to confound the critics going
down to the Eagles.
Appropriately closing the Sir Doug Nicholls round, there was action right up to the last game of the
weekend and the final siren from Perth,
when indigenous player Fremantle’s Michael Walters kicked the point after the siren to win it for the Dockers.
Round 11 (still celebrating diversity) kicks off with North Melbourne, with new interim
coach Rhyce Shaw, playing Richmond
from Marvel Stadium on Friday night. Despite the ‘Roos adrenalin charged win
over the Dogs last week to send off their coach on a high, they will not get
over the Tigers. Richmond by 20 points.
Saturday at the MCG, Collingwood and Fremantle clash and, although Freo won
sensationally by a point last Sunday, they are not in the same class as Collingwood –
Magpies to win but it will not be easy. The GWS Giants at home will easily beat Gold Coast, while the
Geelong Cats, also at home, will win against the Sydney Swans. The Brisbane Lions
at the Gabba host Hawthorn which may not be an easy game at all as the Hawks
will come out fighting, however, the Lions will put away their one-point loss after the siren last week to defeat the
Hawks.
Last game of
Saturday will be played in Alice Springs where
Melbourne go head to head with the
Adelaide Crows. Melbourne ’s
form has been atrocious of late, so its Adelaide
to take the honours.
Sunday brings on the big export footy game from the
“Adelaide Stadium” in Shanghai ,
China between St. Kilda and Port
Adelaide. It is going to be very close,
but realising that it's the
first game for the Saints at
this venue as opposed to the Power playing at this venue for a number of
years - I am picking Port Adelaide’s experience to get them over the line in China.
Essendon hosts Carlton
from the MCG on Sunday afternoon. Essendon has suffered some big injuries to star players over the last couple of weeks and that may be enough for Carlton to capitalise and
win their second game of the year. West Coast in Perth will take on the Western Bulldogs with the Eagles emerging victorious.
That’s it from me, catch you
next week with more comment and tips.
Round
11, I am picking: Collingwood, Brisbane , West
Coast Eagles, Adelaide ,
Geelong , Richmond ,
GWS Giants, Carlton and Port Adelaide
(Progressive tip score:56)
Top AFL tipsters form the AGE have 52 and from
Foxtel 53.
