Round 23, the final fixture for 2019 kicked off last Friday night from the MCG with Collingwood dishing out a loss to a depleted Essendon outfit by 11 points the hard way (Magpies scored 11 behinds more than the Bombers). The win catapulted the Magpies into the top 4 ensuring them of a second chance final and as it so happens they play their final in Melbourne against the Ladder leaders Geelong the week after next. For Essendon, who finished with the lowest percentage in the 8, the road ahead is tough as they will have to travel to Perth in a couple of weeks to face off in an Elimination final with the Eagles at their home ground. However, take heed, the West C

Carlton beat the Saints by 10 points in David Teague’s first game as permanent coach of the Blues . Brisbane is on top of the ladder, one game clear, after their come from behind one-point victory over the Cats. The Magpies are definitely on the way back after thrashing Adelaide, while North Melbourne destroyed the Power. In the other games, Fremantle at home lost their chance for the eight to Essendon. The Bulldogs decimated the Giants big time and the Hawks had a nice walk in the park at the Suns’ expense. What I thought was a game worthy of a Grand Final preview was the Richmond v. West Coast Eagles match from the MCG on a wet Sunday afternoon. Somewhere in the early part of

The Multicultural AFL Football TV and Radio Show – Round 22 By Fiv Antoniou  14/8/2019 Round 21 kicked off last Friday night from the Nation’s freezer, Canberra, with sub-zero temperatures and for the first time in the AFL’s history it snowed during the game. The most exciting thing was the snow falling on a poor performance by the Giants. What was more exciting, was the TV image of kids eating ice-cream while the snow was falling, but it didn’t bother Hawthorn as they demolished the Giants by 56 points. The rest of the games went the favourites’ way, except for the “under 11’s performance” by an Essendon side who could only muster 2 goals in 111 minutes of footy and losing to the Bulldogs by 104 points. Think that was bad - Take a look at North Melbourne’s embarrassing final score against the Cats: 1-8-14 points. One word for the Bombers and Roos: Pathetic! In other games, Collingwood won by 17 over the dismal Demons, Port Adelaide almost doubled the Swans score, while th

The Multicultural AFL Football TV and Radio Show – Round 21 By Fiv Antoniou  7/8/2019 NEMBC Live matchday broadcast this week in HINDI: Essendon v. Western Bulldogs from Marvel Stadium, Saturday 7:15 pm EST on 3ZZZ Digital on-line. Welcome to the business end of the AFL season with finals coming up in less than a month. Last weekend’s matches produced a three-way tie up the top and the Gold Coast Suns look likely to get the wooden spoon. Any position in between is up for grabs in and out of the 8.  Port Adelaide at home host the Sydney Swans. The Power annihilated the Essendon Bombers last week and will definitely carry that confident attitude into the game especially in front of their home crowd. Sydney always play better away from home and almost sneaked off with the points against the Giants last outing. It’s going to be   a tough battle but I feel that Port Adelaide have a chance of breaking into the 8 and they will not let go, taking it up to the Swans at every oppo
