The Multicultural AFL Football TV & Radio Show - Round 2
By Fiv Antoniou

Last round was a tipsters nightmare! So many favourites going down in a sea of flames: Sydney Swans, Adelaide Crows, Melbourne and the reigning premiers West Coast Eagles, all lost their season’s opening games by big margins to bottom sides.

Which brings me to assume the results were more of an aberration than the norm as I expect to see many losing sides bouncing back his weekend. Thursday night at the MCG Collingwood takes on the Richmond Tigers without backs Alex Rance and Bachar Houli. The Magpies will prove too strong and with the height of Cox and Grundy in the centre or resting in the forward 50, Richmond will find it difficult to defend this time around. Collingwood by 14 points.

After last week’s loss to the Western Bulldogs, the Sydney Swans home at the SCG on Friday night, will come back with a vengeance and comfortably defeat the Adelaide Crows.

Essendon should shake their loss off and concentrate on beating the Saints this week. Both sides looked anything but impressive last round. The Dons went down to GWS and St.Kilda just scraped home by a point from the Gold Coast Suns. So, I think Essendon has the better opportunity to down the Sainters this week.

Carlton showed enough last round against Richmond to remain a chance against Port Adelaide at the Adelaide Oval this week, while the in-form Geelong should beat Melbourne at the Cattery. To wrap up Saturday, reigning premiers the West Coast Eagles at home will be out to avenge last week’s embarrassing loss to Brisbane and beat the GWS Giants in a tough match.

Sunday we open the AFL games with the AFLW Grand Final between Adelaide and Carlton. Carlton finished last in 2018, was last in the first two rounds this year and have made the Grand Final while Adelaide were the favourites all season. Carlton by a couple of goals.

In other AFL games, Brisbane should beat the Kangaroos at Marvel Stadium, Hawthorn over the Bulldogs at the ‘G’ and the Gold Coast Suns should do enough at home to beat Fremantle who will have to endure the 5 hour flight from Perth to the Coast.

That’s it from me this week and “Go Blues Ladies” on Sunday!

Round 2: I am picking: Collingwood, Sydney, Essendon, Carlton, Geelong, West Coast, Brisbane, Hawthorn and Fremantle. (Progressive tip score: 4)
